![]() ![]() Anywho, that was then (but we still sell that camera). We had a camera that was on par performance wise with the Silver and sold it for $200 less. We were 2 years ahead of GoPro on both these features. Neo was the first action camera to have a screen on it as well as the first to have a touchscreen. This even though I kinda knew Nicholas Woodman a bit (as most people knew he drove F1000 back then). I started Neo Camera back in Jan 2013 because I couldn't get GoPro to sponsor the F1000 Pro Series after they got burned by Jon Lewis' series. You at the very least need a camera that shoots 1080 at 60fps. ![]() If you need data acquisition with it look into AIM or Replay, just know that video quality is lacking with those. There are some knockoff cameras on Amazon that look similar to GoPro's that are very cheap, around 200 bucks. My brother and I use to have a Contour before they went out of business and then came back so I do not know how good the newer ones are, the old ones we use to have issues with it freezing during a race and vibration was an issue, fixed that with multiple layers of double sided tape. They run around 400 bucks and are a similar design to the Contour cameras. Sony has an excellent action camera, with internal image stabilization that works really well, not sure how well that will work on a vibrating racecar. Even older models, don't go back any further then the Hero 3, will be around 150 if not cheaper. GoPro is also struggling to stay afloat so the price of their products many fall sooner rather than later. I have always been a big fan of GoPro and their Hero Session is small and compact with great video quality for around 200 bucks. Thanks WesWhat are your needs? How much would you like to spend? What's the best video camera these days? Something compact for a FF. ![]()
